Synopsis
In English-speaking countries around the world people celebrate Easter, Valentine's Day, Christmas, and other new, like Remembrance Day and Mother's Day; others, like the summer solstice, go back thousand of years.
What happens on these special days? What do people eat, where do they go, what do they do? Why is there a special day for eating pancakes? About the Author
Jackie Maguire was born in Worcester, England, but emigrated to Calgary, Canada as a child. She studied for a bachelor's degree in sociology, and worked in courts and prisons before moving into public education and teaching English. She did a study of teaching English in prisons for her master's degree. She taught is several countries including Findland and Japan. Two things Jackie loved most about travelling to different countries were going to local festivals and sampling the local food.
